Extended Display at War Remnants Museum - Completed November, 2022

The U.S. Soldiers and Veterans Who Opposed the War exhibit had a lengthy stay at the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.

The exhibit was so popular during its initial four-week run in 2018 that the museum brought it back in September 2019 for a full year. The exhibit, located in the ground floor temporary exhibition space, was then extended through the end of 2022.

In 2019 the museum acquired the rights to publish the companion book in Vietnam simultaneous to its publication in the United States. On September 20, 2019, the museum hosted a book launch event with great fanfare. Those living in Vietnam, or visiting, could purchase copies at the museum bookstore.

The exhibit prominently displayed two large murals, one depicting Navy nurse Susan Schnall, in uniform, leading hundreds of sailors and soldiers marching for peace in San Francisco. The other was a larger than life reproduction of the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s expose of the My Lai Massacre that featured Army photographer Ron Haeberle’s horrific photographs. Additionally, the museum displayed a slide show of the exhibit on a giant two-sided jumbotron that visitors saw when they entered the museum and when they rested in the ground floor reception area.
